Freelance illustrator and artist. 34 years old; I live in Oakland, CA, with an enormously fat orange cat and two house rabbits.

I went to school at San Jose State University, where I entered the animation/illustration program there, known as the Shrunkenheadman club. There I learned how rigorous the demands of traditional 2d animation could be, as well as the importance of strong drawing skills. I've been a compulsive life drawing attendee ever since. I graduated in 2000, and work in the game and animation industry. My clients have included: Electronic Arts, Namco, Factor 5, Naked Sky, Secret Level, Blackpoint Studios, Lightsource Studios, and PDI/Dreamworks.

If you are curious about the url here, it's pronounced "pair-dah-dor", and was meant to be the Spanish word for "loser", which is "perdedor". I mistakenly misspelt it when signing up for the domain. I had gotten the idea for the word from the chorus in Beck's "Loser" song, which was big in the 90's. Beck was slurring the Spanish "e" into a vague "uh" sound, which I misinterpreted into a Spanish "ah" (I've heard that he couldn't really speak Spanish at the time he'd sung it; obviously, I don't speak Spanish, either). But on reflection, the fact that I failed to spell it correctly seemed ultimately appropriate.

Speaking of music, the music I enjoy I mostly find through Pandora; you can get some idea of my tastes here: pandora.com/people/jcourtney89

I also occasionally blog at crookedeye.livejournal.com That name was originally a joke about how in my terrible high school photographs I had a weird half-smile that made my eyes look like they were slightly misaligned. And it sounded catchy and was available. I have no affiliation with the hip hop artist or Warhammer minature painter who share the name.

You can get some idea of things I find interesting through my bookmarks on delicious.
You can see my work here on Flickr as well.
I am not on facebook, so if you see someone with the same name there, it's not me.
